Details: In Singapore, the incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remains high, with many patients first consulting primary care providers. This talk outlines the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to common STI symptoms in primary care, including urethral discharge, genital ulcers, and growths. Key topics include sexual history taking physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and treatment recommendations, alongside STI prevention strategies like lifestyle changes and vaccinations. The discussion also covers Mpox, which has two clades, with clade IIb causing a global outbreak since 2022. Symptoms include fever and rash, and treatment is available, including the Jynneos vaccine derived from smallpox.
